An Evening of Celebration & Giving

An Evening of Celebration & Giving was emceed by Patty Jackson from WDAS. We had an amazing performance by Carol Riddick, “A Better Me.” Followed by patient stories performed by Aikan Performance Arts, highlighting a few of the impactful stories of actual patients the BDC has served.

One of the first supporters of BDC was Rev. Dr. Lorina Marshall-Blake, President of Independence Blue Cross Foundation and VP of Community Affairs. The first Director of Operations, Dr. Natalie Gonzalez, Chief Resident of Pediatrics at Einstein Medical Center as well as the current Director of Operations Gibran Gadson provided their experience and impact BDC has had on them.  The Black Doctors Consortium understands the importance of investing in our future. We endeavor to support and recognize our future leader, specifically young people desiring to go into the field of medicine.

We were also graced with a beautiful ballet performance from Noa Abrams, student at the Conservatory for Arts and Music under the direction of Bonnie Bing.

We awarded the Black Doctors Consortium Change Maker Award to Dionna Ellis Harper, a senior at Muriel Dobbins Vocational High School who wants to pursue a career pediatric medicine and to David Losier a 2017 graduate of Kutztown university with a Bachelor of Science Chemistry and Math and  2^nd year Medical Student at SUNY Upstate Medical University.

Lastly, we did congratulate the founder and visionary of the Black Doctors Consortium, Dr. Ala Stanford.

I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you for the support you provided to the Black Doctors Consortium and the Dr. Ala Stanford Center for Health Equity (ASHE) during our Celebration and Giving event. The evening celebrated our inaugural year of serving Philadelphians.

We are an organization that was born out of a global crisis. We did not run, hide or shelter in place, instead we went into our communities to educate, calm fears, and offer protection with love, empathy, and competency. We are an organization that cares for people the way they need and deserve to be cared for.

Your contribution was crucial to the success of the event. You helped us raise $140,000. This was a huge success.

Here’s what a donor said about the event: “It is important for our company to make a difference in our local community. Your organization is making a tremendous impact on so many people by providing barrier free health and wellness to Philly. Thank you for organizing such a great event! We’ll come again.”

This year, we aim to serve thousands of Philadelphians across the region, and your support is helping us achieve this goal.

We plan to organize more events of this kind in the future and eagerly await the opportunity to partner together again and further our relationship.
